Over 15 years ago I created the first book in my beaded book series. From the start I knew I wanted a whole library of beaded books, but how to display and store them? It is something I have revisited many times over the years but nothing seemed quite right, until now!
With our new foray into
beading boards I have picked up a few skills, and with these skills came the realisation I could use them to enhance our beadwork as well. I have designed this wooden bookcase especially for ThreadABead books, so they can be displayed and enjoyed. And of course, as it is a ThreadABead design, you will find that this is not just any ordinary bookcase.....
The bookcase is 14.2 cm tall x 7.3cm wide and had a depth of 4cm. In the bookcase are 2 shelves. Each shelf holds 7 standard ThreadABead books, making 14 books in total. The drawer pulls out and can hold items up to 6cm x 3cm x 2.6cm.
So what makes this a special ThreadABead bookcase? Well not only is it ornately decorated, there might just be a few characters who live in the bookcase too…
On the first shelf you will discover there is a door and window with a plant pot outside, how curious. We don’t want to ruin any surprises so why not investigate further and see where it takes you …..
The bookcase comes to you in unfinished wood and can be left like this. However you can also treat the wood with a wax such as Bri-wax or even just a simple oil, like olive oil. You can also paint the bookcase using Acrylic paint pens (widely available) and spray with a clear varnish to seal it you want to bring the images and characters to life.
The bookcase will need to be assembled which doesn’t take very long and full instructions are provided.
